The Tom Custer Professional Travel Awards, up to $5000/year total, are given to non-North American waterbird scientists to assist with travel to the Waterbird Society’s annual scientific meetings. While not restricted to scientists that are contributing to, and presenting at Symposia during the meeting, it is a good incentive for Symposia organizers to include an international component who might not otherwise be able to attend without the travel support. To that end, Symposia organizers should contact Christine M. Custer to ‘apply’ for these travel funds. It is up to the Symposia organizers to determine the recipients and how much money each would require prior to requesting funds. The Symposium organizers will also need to provide the necessary contact information to affect the transfer of funds. Awards will be made on a first come, first serve basis until the annual allocation is spent.
